"Over the last year I've been working on a Hip Hop mix. It was hard at first to put into words what it meant to me or why I was even working on it. Over the past few weeks I realized that it was a 25 year personal reflection of songs that spoke to me and others about growing up Black in America. The different artists span different time periods, from the Harlem Renaissance to the current Millennial uprising. As I enter my 25th year, I have spent a lot of time reflecting on all of the events that have happened to shape me into the person that I am today. I live and breathe Hip Hop; as such, it is a way for me to express myself in way that I usually can't. Nigga: An American Original is a story heard through two turntables and a mixer." - vOoDoO
