It is very easy to get out of sync with your sexual energy. Personal responsibilities, interpersonal interactions, impossible beauty standards reinforced by the media and society and many other things can cause you to feel disconnected. S.P.A. Days are a nice addition to your self care routine to connect you back with your sexual energy.
Mindful Masturbation or Tantric Sex is a practice that has been practiced a many cultures dating back as early as the 5th century. The belief is that divine energy is channeled through meditation and gives birth to a physical, sexual experience. It's more than just masturbation; you are connecting mindfulness to your physical experience. As sexual beings, it is important to reclaim and strengthen the power we have over our own individual pleasures. Here is a few steps to enjoy your next S.P.A Day.
Cultivate A Safe Space
Before you get started its important to set the mood. Make sure you will be undisturbed for the duration of this exercise. I prefer to take a hot bath or shower, moisturize my skin with whipped Shea butter and essential oils, and do other things in my self care routine that allows me to become completely relaxed, comfortable, and most of all rested.
Some prefer exercising, listening to music, journaling, or many other things to create a safe space. Moving forward, don't take yourself too seriously. Disconnect yourself from the outside world and enjoy your own company.
Meditate on Your Personal Pleasures
Lay or sit in a comfortable position and meditate on your pleasures. Breathing is extremely important. When you are first starting take long slow breaths. Be mindful of your body as it expands and rises as you inhale. Feel all pressures you face roll off with every exhale.
Counting to ten with odd numbers as you inhales and the even numbers as you exhale, helps with unlocking the potential of the experience.
Once you feel yourself relaxing start to unlock your sexual energy. What arouses you? What makes you feel sexy and desirable? Point your focus on those thoughts. Take as much time as you need to feel the sexual energy begin to build inside of you. To me, I feel a warmth slowly rush around me, starting from my neck and pubic area.
Explore Your Body
Once you are very mindful of your sexual energies, begin to explore yourself. Feel the power of your touch. Allow your body to react and move naturally in different positions. Don't rush, but push your boundaries. The goal is not to rush to a orgasm, it's to be present. Move in different positions, experiment with sex toys, try to find a new area of your body that strengthens your arousal. Make sure you are giving yourself the best sexual experience each time.
Do Something Nice for Yourself
Once you're done, do something nice for yourself. It doesn't have to be grand, just a gesture of appreciation for the experience. Relax and reflect on your experience. Did you learn something new? Is there something that you are now open to experience with a partner? Or adversely, did you feel any blocks that came up that hindered your sexual experience. All of these things are great things to reflect on after your S.P.A Day.
